Below is the softcover image for the new “Lady Death: Unholy Ruin #1” original graphic novel from Brian Pulido and the crew over at Coffin Comics. The Kickstarter campaign launched on Wednesday, August 23, 2017, and was fully funded within 1 minute and 36 seconds! This project ended with $194,145 pledged (of a $15,000 goal), with 1,731 backers, making Coffin Comics history!
The great feature of these Kickstarter projects are the “stretch goals,” which are special items offered through Kickstarter projects only, and more items unlock when the total pledge amounts reach specific monetary values. “Lady Death: Her Story
Lady Death is a supernatural, sword-wielding anti-hero who battles evil in Hell (and where ever she pleases). Once she was Hope, a teenaged girl who is deceived by demons in an effort to save her mother’s soul in Hell. She renounces her mortality for eternal life in Hell. To ensure her survival, she turns to the darkness within herself and begins a transformation into Lady Death.
What is the new story, Lady Death: Unholy Ruin #1?
By choice, Lady Death rides alone. Having saved Jake – and Hell itself – from the insane treachery of Herr Reich, the rogue Nazi scientist, she has separated herself from her allies Haxan and Hellrider, convinced that anyone close to her will die.
Unknown to Lady Death, insurmountable forces – and former enemies – rally against her. On earth, a group of supernatural saviors plan to invade Hell and bring Lady Death back to earth to save it from the extinction level villainy of The Trinity.
Things are about to get messy…
The Details
‘Lady Death: Unholy Ruin #1′ is a 48-page, square-bound all new graphic novel that builds on the mythology we created in Chaos Rules #1, Damnation Game #1, Extinction Express #1, Oblivion Kiss #1, Merciless Onslaught #1. It is the 6th chapter in Lady Death’s NEW story. And…as we launch this Kickstarter campaign, the creative work is 100% done. All we gotta do is print and ship — and that is where YOU come in! Printing and shipping ain’t cheap! Heck, no! We need your support to get this done!
But none of this could’ve been accomplished without the creative team of:
Brian Pulido (co-writer, publisher, art director): He created and published the Chaos! Comics Universe, including Lady Death, Evil Ernie, Purgatori, Chastity and dozens of other characters. He’s written comics for A Nightmare on Elm Street, Chucky, Friday the 13th, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and many more. He’s on Hero Initiative’s fundraising board and has received the CBLDF Defender of Liberty Award.
Mike MacLean (co-writer): Mike co-wrote Lady Death: Damnation Game #1, Extinction Express #1, Oblivion Kiss #1, Merciless Onslaught #1, wrote La Muerta (Descent, Last Ritesand Vengeance) and co-created and wrote Zack the Zombie Exterminator. His crime fiction has bloodied the pages of numerous anthologies, magazines, and websites, including Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine. He wrote the Syfy movie Sharktopus. In addition, he co-wrote Dinocroc vs. Supergator and Piranhaconda.
Dheeraj Verma (illustrator): Dheeraj has illustrated Lady Death: Chaos Rules #1, Lady Death: Damnation Game #1, Lady Death: Extinction Express #1, Lady Death: Oblivion Kiss #1and Lady Death: Merciless Onslaught #1.
Ceci De La Cruz (colorist): Ceci has colored covers and pin-ups for Coffin Comics, and colored La Muerta #1: Descent and Last Rites. Other credits include work for Big Dog Ink, Mike Wolfer Entertainment, Medikidz Pages and many more.
Marshall Dillon (letterer): A writer, letterer, and editor, Marshall has been working in the comic industry since 1994. He has served as associate publisher for Devil’s Due Publishing and managing editor for BOOM! Studios, Speakeasy Comics, Ice Kunion, and Udon Comics. Current work includes: Lady Death and La Muerta.
The Management Team
Francisca Pulido (President): Francisca was Chaos! Comics (classic era) Co-Founder and Vice President. Under her leadership, the company became the number one independent comic publisher of the 1990’s. Today, she charts the path for Coffin Comics.
Mike Flippin (Senior Graphic Designer): Mike is the graphic designer for Coffin Comics (2007 – present) and was the senior graphic designer for Chaos! Comics (1991-2002). In all, Mike and I have collaborated for over twenty years! He puts the rock “n” roll in our house style.
Nick Gallegos (Customer Service Manager): Nick “Napalm” superbly oversees management of LadyDeathStore.com and all our communications.
Bernie Fritts (Graphic Designer): Bernie designs and executes our Kickstarter and stretch goal graphics. He also teaches his craft at schools in the Phoenix, Arizona area.
Jimmy Calabrese (Marketing): Jimmy oversees the Coffin Comics social media and comic market relationships. Jimmy is President of Spookshow Records, the owner of Calabrese Marketing and a member of the band Calabrese. Jimmy and I have been long time friends allies throughout the years (I’ve directed music videos for Calabrese too)!
